WordPress Plugin — Yandex.Fotki 2.0
I finally worked up the energy to rewrite the “Yandex.Fotki” plugin! In the new version, everything has been rewritten literally from scratch and runs on the “Yandex.Fotki API”, which is why this version is called 2.0.
To work with AtomPub (the “Yandex.Fotki API” uses this technology), I use the SimpleXML library.
Features
- Display all of a user’s photos
- Display photos from an album of your choice
- As before, you can specify the number of results, but now it is NOT limited to 20
- Display photo titles
- Specify the photo thumbnail size
Requirements
- PHP5
- SimpleXML (installed by default in PHP5)
I added the plugin to the MyWordPress site directory. I also tried uploading it to the official WordPress site, but unfortunately I got fed up with reading the instructions; maybe I’ll add it sometime later.
What Didn’t Make It into the Release, but Is Planned
- Display all of a user’s albums (do you need this?)
- Display the number of photos in an album and comments on a photo
- View privacy-protected photos (requires entering a password)
- View photos using a “lightbox” (please recommend something for this, preferably something native to WordPress)
- Cache results to avoid requesting photos from “Yandex” unnecessarily (please recommend caching tools, preferably native to WordPress)
- Shortcodes for inserting a gallery or photo into a post (Examples: [yf]album_1234[/yf] — gallery, [yf]photo_1234[/yf] — photo)

Usage

Яндекс.Фотки

<?php yandexFotki(); ?>

I’ve already installed the new version myself, and everything works wonderfully. If you notice any bugs, please report them in the comments.
Download the plugin: Yandex.Fotki 2.0
P.S. I also created a separate page, /ext/wp-yandex-fotki/, where new versions will be published, though there will also be a blog post.
